We are The Nkunims, a Houston-based, multicultural family of five. Our story started on opposite sides of the world, somehow finding its way into one home filled with love, loud laughter, and three tiny humans who keep us humble, tired, and endlessly inspired. What began as two creatives figuring out marriage, identity, and purpose has grown into a journey far bigger than we ever imagined.
We never set out to build a community on social media. But as photographers and visual storytellers, sharing our life felt natural. Simple snapshots that slowly turned into a family archive and, unexpectedly, a global village cheering us on. As our page grew, so did our awareness that God placed this platform in our hands for a reason.
Now, we’re passionate about inviting our audience into each chapter—whether that’s navigating entrepreneurship, traveling as a family of five, or exploring the cultures and places that shape us, especially Kojo’s Ghanaian roots. Our hope is that through our lens, families see the beauty in their own stories, feel encouraged to explore more, and learn to embrace the imperfect, magical everyday moments that make life meaningful.
Get To Know Us
-

Nana Kojo
Otherwise known as ‘papa’, Kojo was born in Kumasi, Ghana, where he spent his life until 2010. After studying fashion design in Ghana, he founded a jewelry company shortly after making his move to the USA. On top of building a baby brand with Michelle he has more recently gone on to pursue his true passion in the film industry where he has built experience in film lighting and directing through the family production house.
-

Michelle Hope
Otherwise known as ‘mama’, Michelle was born and raised in New Jersey until attending Syracuse University where she played basketball and studied fashion design. After spending (almost) one year working in NYC she left to dedicate time to her start up fashion and creative directing companies, working with many large names in the entertainment industry. She has since become the creative director for all family businesses.
-

Nana Afia Leilani
Otherwise known as ‘Shpoopa’, Afia has definitely taken after Michelle’s calm spirit. She loves music, art, and her family (especially her little sis, even though sometimes she loves a little too hard). At five years old Afia already has such a helpers heart. She wants to do anything she can to help the ones she loves, and always has to check to make sure they are ok. She is a little blessing.
-

Nana Ama Anidaso
Otherwise known as ‘cici’, meaning sister in Twi, Anidaso is an old soul. She has taken after Kojo’s fun loving personality and Michelle’s love for adventure. She is the happiest, dimpliest little girl in town (until big sis comes to smother her with love, then she definitely speaks her mind).
-

Nana Yaa Asomdwe
The youngest girly in the Nkunim family, Nana Yaa is the calmest, sweetest little peanut. We can’t wait to see what this year brings and are so excited for her personality to start showing through!
